After a decade at the helm, eBay CEO Meg Whitman is preparing to retire. John Donahue, the president of eBay Marketplace, is said to be the front-runner to be the next CEO.
During most of Whitman’s tenure, eBay seemed unstoppable, but over the alst few years Ebay has lost its momentum and seen its valuedrop by a half.
The poor purchase of Skype has also not helped Ebay. While Ebay has maintained its strong position in the auction marketplace it has not been able to keep up with recent developments in social networking and online user trends.
